Photos of a two-week business trip to Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in October, 2010.

Trip to Bali in 2006, to the second wedding of long-time friends. Perhaps the most romantic and exotic place I've ever visited.

All shot in the Far East, mostly in Boracay, Philippines -- the Key West of East Asia.

Spring 2007, on R&R from Iraq. Many splendors, and many reminders of Cambodia's thirty years of war.

An ongoing project. Now that we live in Northern Virginia, close to where much of the Civil War took place, we have easy access to many sites.

"The Rock." A big destination site for VIPs when I was a Vice Consul in Manila. Virtually unchanged from 1945. Somber and magnificent.

I never much liked living there, but I've come to appreciate it more and more the longer I've been away.

Images taken during a two week tour of Transylvania and Bukovina in September, 2012, focused primarily on the painted monasteries of Bucovina (in northeastern Romania). Their walls are decorated with elaborate frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries, with portraits of saints and prophets, scenes from the life of Jesus, and images of angels and demons, heaven and hell.
